Lead Enrichment: 101

Take the research out of sales prospecting – use Lindy to research your leads so you know exactly how to reach out, and when.

Think of Lindy as a 24/7 sales assistant: she will take your list of leads, perform research, gather contact information, find company details, and organize the lead info in your preferred database.

Start here with a Lead Enrichment Template that will:

Be triggered by an event in your sales process (e.g., a new lead added to a Google Sheet)
Perform online research on each lead
Compile information about the lead and their company
Deliver the enriched leads in your preferred database (Google Sheets, Airtable, CRM, etc)

The Lead Enrichment Template can be used as a starting point for critical sales use cases, including:

Performing ongoing research, monitoring key events, news, social media posts, funding announcements, etc.
Updating CRM lead and contact information
Aggregating lead and company information (including various company stakeholders) to prep you for meetings or demos

This is just scratching the surface of what Lindy can do to enrich leads and prospect data. Let’s dive into the template and start setting up your Lead Enrichment Lindy!

Enriching Leads 101

When using the Lead Enrichment Lindy, it's important to configure the template to ensure leads are being enriched exactly how you'd like.

Below is the workflow for the Lead Enrichment Lindy when you begin:

Add Your Lead List

Select the New Row Added trigger and paste the Google Sheet Spreadsheet ID or URL where you capture lead data into the "Spreadsheet ID or URL" field.

Specify the Sheet title if you have more than one.

Every time a new row is added to the spreadsheet (e.g., a new LinkedIn URL), Lindy will wake up and begin her research.

To specify exactly what data you want Lindy to enrich and research, title your column headers with the data you want Lindy to update.

Customize The Search Data

Modify the prompt within each "Search the Internet" action to match your Column Headers. For example:

If Lindy needs to find a recent press release article about your prospect, make sure you have a corresponding column header in your sheet called "Recent Press Release" where Lindy can add this data.

Then, enter a search query that says, "Using the information found about the contact, find a recent press release about them."

Lindy will use the content she received on the New Row Added trigger and perform the search based on your query.

You can add as many "Search the Internet" actions as you'd like. Remember to add corresponding column headers to your Spreadsheet so Lindy knows where to store the found information!

It is best practice to have each search action correspond to a column header.

Update Your Lead List

The last step is to have Lindy update your lead list with the newly found data.

Click the Google Sheets Update Row action, specify your Spreadsheet name, and select the Sheet Title if there's more than one.

Ensure you select the Lookup Column (this is what Lindy will use to find the lead and update their row values) that you will be using to add lead data onto the sheet. For example, if you are adding LinkedIn URLs to your lead list for Lindy to enrich, use the Lindy LinkedIn URL Column Header as the lookup column.

For the Row Number field, click the “AI Prompt” setting and click into the field. On the left will be a Trigger and Action Output Data modal, where you can select the rowNumber output data to tell Lindy to update the same row as the triggered New Row Added.

This is extremely useful in case the New Row Added lookup value exists twice on your spreadsheet. By using the rowNumber, Lindy will defer to the same row number as the New Row Added trigger.

You can leave the sheet headers on Auto to have Lindy use intelligence to complete them based on the search result and corresponding column header name.

Optional: Customizing Column Updates

You can add a prompt to the column field if you want to add custom instructions on how Lindy should update the cell.

Example:

If Lindy performed a search to find the prospect's date of most recent funding, you can add a prompt:

Format the date like so: MM/DD/YYYY.

Lindy will use this prompt and her search result to update your sheet.

Second Example:

Lindy performed a search to find the contact's three recent tweets and you want only the most relevant tweet added to the sheet. Add this prompt:

Include only the most relevant tweet.

Lindy will use intelligence to only include the most relevant tweet made by the contact based on the context of the workflow.
