Transfer Calls

A quick guide to transferring calls to different phone numbers.

Lindy’s Phone Calling feature allows you to autonomously handle both inbound and outbound phone calls with AI agents.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to add the Transfer Call action to your phone calling Lindies, enabling them to forward a call to another phone number.

This is helpful for use cases when you want to auto-reroute a call based on specific logic, a customer or client asks to speak to a human representative, or your Lindy determines it should transfer the call to another Lindy or team member.

Adding the Transfer Call Action as a Step

We’ll start by adding the Transfer Call action as a standalone step after a Call Received trigger, which will immediately transfer inbound calls to a different number.

To do this, after a Call Received trigger, click “Perform an action”.

Then, select the Lindy Phone application and choose the Transfer Call action.

For the “To” field of the action, update the mode to “Set Manually” and add your desired phone number you want to transfer the call to.

The “Model” for this step is unused, so you do not need to update this setting for this action.

Now, when someone calls your Lindy phone number, the call will automatically transfer to the “To” phone number in your Transfer Call step.

Tip: You can add a Condition before the Transfer Call step to route calls based on specific logic, like caller area code.

Adding the Transfer Call Action as an Agent Skill

You can also add the Transfer Call action as an Agent skill. This is helpful when you want an AI agent to route calls within an existing phone conversation. We’ll work off the the Lindy Inbound Phone Call Agent template for this example.

Once you’ve added the template, click on the Help customer agent step and update the existing prompt to include a transfer call instruction.

Example Prompt:

If the potential customer asks to be transferred to another/human agent, or you think it's best to transfer the call to a human agent, transfer the call to this number: [desired phone number].

Then, click the “+” button in the “Skills” section of the agent and add the Transfer Call action.

Now, your Lindy will be able transfer calls based on the conversation, its available context, and your prompted instruction.
