Conditions

Learn how to use Conditions to define which path Lindy takes in your automation.

Conditions let you define different paths in your automation based on specific criteria.

When to Use Conditions

Use conditions when you want Lindy's actions to vary based on the condition you define.

Example: if you only want Lindy to respond to emails where an emailer has proposed a question, the Condition statement you would add is, "the emailer asked a question".

You can add as many Conditions as you'd like, and define the actions that follow if the execution passes each Condition.

Note:

Lindy can only continue down one Conditional path per execution.

If you define a Condition and do not add a step afterwards, Lindy's execution will stop.

More Examples

Defining When To Respond To Emails

You can use conditions to specify how Lindy should respond to email.

In the below example, two Conditions are used:

To filter if an email received was asking a question and needs a response.
To ensure Lindy only continues if she found an answer on the Google Document.

How to Use a Condition

To add a Condition, click the plus button below any action (or hover between two actions and click the plus button).

Then, set the AI model that will interpret the condition statement and define your condition using an "Only continue if..." statement.

This statement informs Lindy to only continue when the condition statement is met.

Every Condition statement begins with "Only continue if..." meaning you only need to insert, for example, "the email contains a 6 digit user ID number".

You can think of conditional statements as AI prompts that inform the selected Lindy AI model how to route data and take action within your workflows.

Defining When To Add a Human in the Loop

You can also use conditions to specify when Lindy should alert you.

In this example, a Conditions is added after the "Email Received" trigger that states to "Only continue if..."the user asked for a refund or seems angry"".

After this, there is a Slack "Send Direct Message" action, that sends the user an alert with the emailer’s information to let them know about the angry email.
